The sea bream belongs to the Sparidae family. Its habitat is the Mediterranean Sea. The gilthead seabream is strongly built. The body is high-backed and laterally strongly flattened, the head rounded and relatively big.
Sea bream normally grows to a length of between 25 and 35 centimeters and weighs up to 2.5 kilograms. However, specimens over 70 centimeters long are rarely caught; the world record is 17.2 kilograms.
